SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Councilor for the Primary Sector of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Valentín González, held a meeting with the senior patron of the Fishermen’s Guild of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, Víctor Díaz, during which he promised to promote lines of work that strengthen the promotion of the fish products of our island.
Valentín González announced that from the Cabildo they want to incorporate actions to promote tuna consumption that are already underway, others that encourage the acquisition of other Tenerife fishing products, such as old fish or bream.
The counselor assured that they will insist on strengthening the link between Tenerife producers, in this case the fishermen, with the tourism sector with the aim of making local products available in restaurants, hotels, brotherhoods and marketers. “Our intention is to value the local product, including its consumption in schools, with the aim of publicizing our products, linked to artisanal fishing and our gastronomic traditions,” he added.
During the meeting, the need to promote, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands, training and training actions in the field of fishing “so that the activity maintains high levels of competitiveness” was also discussed.
This meeting meets the will of the insular government to “hold periodic work meetings, which allow the administration to work hand in hand with the agents of the primary sector,” said Valentín González, who announced that at the request of the fishermen themselves they are going to institutionalize this type of meeting, through the organization of an annual forum with all the brotherhoods of Tenerife, which serves as a space for permanent dialogue with the sector.
