Among these challenges, according to Dávila, is the project for the reconstruction of the coastline called ‘Master Plan E Puertito’, a fundamental initiative for this part of the municipality and which consists of an action promoted by the Güímar City Council with the aim of transforming the Puertito coastline and covering the 2.5 kilometers that separate Las Bajas (to the south) from Malpaís de Güímar.
In addition to the reconstruction of the coastline, the president continued, they have also addressed the need to improve access to the Puertito, since there are “areas in which there is a real risk for people.” In this sense, one of the priorities will be to address the improvement of the TF-61 highway, where a comprehensive reform is necessary with the improvement of security for people who want to access the bus stop.
“There are many projects that we can develop in Güímar and that are related to promoting employment and others in which we have to focus on young people, not only so that they can access the world of work, but also so that they also have spaces for leisure activities that are consistent with a municipality that is a benchmark throughout the Valley of Güímar”, stated Dávila.
For his part, the mayor of Güímar, Gustavo Pérez, stressed that for the municipality “it is essential that the Cabildo de Tenerife consider it a strategic municipality within the island. The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife knows perfectly what the demands are in cultural, sports, social and infrastructure aspects. In this sense, we must continue the lines established with the projects of a friendly city for the elderly and a child-friendly city, “a recognition of our past with an eye on our future” .
Pérez thanked the predisposition and commitment of the president to the municipality and its projects, and highlighted the importance of water in the Güímar valley, and its irrigation system, as well as the support of the Strategic Framework for Island Development (MEDI) “has in the municipality” where it has a “fundamental” role. “We are sure that, in this mandate, the objectives of the MEDI will be balanced with the municipality and aspects of the social and cultural infrastructure of the municipality will be reflected,” the mayor declared.
