He Northern Murgas Contest of 2024 will be held in garachico, despite the fact that the established calendar indicated that Icod de los Vinos would be the venue for this event next year. In this way, the icodense municipality will host this event in the year 2025 because in 2025 it will be the lustral festivals of Garachico. “We have reached an agreement to exchange the dates of celebration for the next two years and that the celebration of this important event does not coincide with the events scheduled for the Garachiquenses festivities,” said the mayor of Icod de los Vinos and councilor for Fiestas, Javier Sierra, after the meeting of the Comunorte commission held yesterday in the city of Drago.
This commission represented by the Fiestas areas of the municipalities of Icod, Garachico, Los Realejos, La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz is made up of Isabel Socorro, Councilor for Fiestas of Los Realejos; Alexis Pacheco, mayor of parties of La Orotava; Noemí Fernández, Councilor for Fiestas in Puerto de la Cruz; Andrés Hernández, mayor of Garachico Fiestas, and Javier Sierra, councilor of Icod de los Vinos Fiestas.
In this way, and according to the established provisional calendar, the final phase of this contest will be held in the last days of January, and the final will take place in the first week of February. Meanwhile, the Comunorte has been scheduled for the next meeting after the summer.
