SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Aug. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González; and the Minister of Culture and Museums, José Carlos Acha, visited the Taoro Park on Tuesday, where the Veranos del Taoro Festival will take place until August 5.
The organization has enabled two stages, Laurel de Indias and Arboleda, where a stage activity will take place during the days of the Festival that will have the participation of the American actor John Malkovich.
Rosa Dávila congratulated this cultural commitment “in the open sky, which makes it a unique festival of its kind thanks to its director, Enrique Camacho, and all those who have wanted to accompany him, both sponsors and the Porto City Council and the Town Hall”.
“It is an honor to be able to participate in an event like Veranos del Taoro, which places Puerto de la Cruz at the center of the Archipelago’s culture, with international figures such as John Malkovich,” said the president.
Dávila added that it is a young contest, which is opening its second edition, but which “is consolidating at an impressive speed.” “Puerto de la Cruz will have the Cabildo on its side to make bets as daring and successful as Veranos del Taoro,” he asserted.
For his part, Marco González pointed out that this activity turns the tourist city into “an opportunity full of multiple experiences that are related to the artistic world.” “This second edition is a unique opportunity where the performing arts will invade a natural space, which is one of the lungs of this tourist town,” he added.
The Minister of Culture and Museums, José Carlos Acha, commented that this type of open-air festival is “unusual and we have to see how they consolidate Puerto de la Cruz.” “This is added to its tourist offer, which generates a benefit at all levels, and attracts a large public and interest in the tourist city. We must continue to support this activity so that it can be consolidated,” he added.
The Festival’s director, Enrique Camacho, thanked the administrations and sponsors “for their unconditional support for this festival, which is very peculiar, staging shows that usually take place in closed spaces to represent them in a natural environment.” “The Festival wants to be a meeting point for art, performing arts and Canarian creators, who are the absolute protagonists of the dance program”, he pointed out.
The Veranos del Taoro Festival offers a program that will take place in Puerto de la Cruz, between August 1 and 5. This edition also moves part of its program to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. It is a great scenic activity in Parque Taoro, which also has a craft market and a wide gastronomic offer.
