SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute for Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS), will allocate one million euros to a line of subsidies to clubs and associations for the elderly with the aim of promoting and supporting the role of these entities on the island.
This was confirmed by the president, Rosa Dávila, and the Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, who held a meeting on Monday with representatives of the island’s senior citizens’ associations, where they announced the will of the insular government to renew the Insular Senior Council, as an advisory participatory body.
Dávila and Fumero stressed their commitment to guarantee that the elderly in Tenerife “have spaces to develop initiatives that favor their autonomy and improve their capacities, providing quality of life for longer and in their own environment”, which is why the Cabildo promotes this line of subsidies.
In fact, the purpose of this line of subsidies is to support the role of associations for the elderly so that they can carry out activities of a diverse nature, which they have lacked since the suppression of the Ansina program, since these groups are emerging as platforms for the participation and to facilitate meeting, coexistence and support for social relationships.
Each group can opt for a 6,000 euro subsidy, which they can allocate to leisure activities or activities related to training and culture, which avoid social isolation and favor intergenerational relations.
The deadline for submitting the application will remain open until November 15. Both the application model and the bases can be found at the IASS headquarters in Santa Cruz, or at the electronic headquarters of this body, https://IASS.es, in the Procedures and Procedures section. Applicant entities must have been registered as an association for the elderly for at least one year, have more than 25 partners or members and carry out activities in a real and effective way.
