This is the best cheese in the Canary Islands 2023

He Government of the Canary Islands has delivered this Friday the awards for the best cheeses of the Archipelago in the contest of this year’s edition of Agrocanarias. A total of 165 cheeses corresponding to 56 cheese factories on the Islands and they have been distributed 12 Great Gold Medals, 19 Gold Medals, 12 Silver and 7 special distinctions.

Regarding the participation by islands, 5 samples and 2 cheese factories from El Hierro were registered; 28 and 9 of Fuerteventura; 31 and 14 of Gran Canaria; 9 and 4 of La Gomera; 17 and 4 from Lanzarote; 36 and 12 of Tenerife; and 39 of 11 from La Palma.

A total of 12 Great Gold Medals, 19 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals and 7 special distinctions have been distributed.

Don Nicolás made from pasteurized aged cow’s milkproduced by the cheese factory Finca de Uga, from Lanzarote, has been selected as the Best Cheese of the Canary Islands 2023 under the Official Agrocanarias Contestorganized by the Canarian Government, through the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), to recognize the best productions of the archipelago.
