SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, sponsored by the Autonomous Organization for Culture, will host the sixth edition of Culture & Business Pride until Sunday, July 30, which includes more than thirty free events that will revolve around progress, rights in social, cultural and business matters of the LGTBI+ collective. An event that, in addition, has been selected as one of the outstanding acts of the World Tourism Organization for this year 2023.
This will be a week in which Santa Cruz de Tenerife will become a world benchmark in the fight against the rights of the LGTBI+ collective and on which the Councilor for Culture of the capital City Council, Santiago Díaz Mejías, wanted to pronounce, who has assured that it is an honor for Santa Cruz “to be, once again, the enclave of this world-renowned event that promotes culture, that seeks to raise awareness and that, in addition, attracts many people”.
In this sixth edition, more than 70 personalities from the LGTBI+ collective will meet. For example, the actress and singer Samantha Fox, references in the film scene such as Paco León or Eduardo Casanova, the North American Aquaria, one of the best-known and most respected drag stars, winner of Rupaul’s Drag Race USA, or the content creator Carolina Iglesias.
In addition, other names such as the American actress and model Indya Moore, the vice president of the European Parliament, the nicknamed ‘champion of equality’, Marc Angel, the TikTok stars Pierre Boo and Nick Champa, the mythical musical group Village People or the artist Jedet join.
The international Alan Turing LGTBIQ+ Awards gala, one of the most recognized awards of the LGTBIQ+ collective worldwide, will take place on Thursday 27 at the Teatro Guimerá. An appointment that will be free until full capacity is reached and that will be presented and conducted by Samantha Hudson. The scenography of the ceremony will be carried out by the digital artist José García Vallés, better known as Cachito Vallés, one of the key figures of the new national digital art.
These awards, in honor of the father of computing Alan Turing, who suffered discrimination and persecution due to his sexual condition, will reward, among others, international personalities such as the Vice President of the European Parliament, Marc Angel, the leader of Judas Priest, Rob Halford, the Village People group, or the American actress and activist, Indya Moore, who will visit Spain for the first time for this reason.
