Sensuality, impudence and glamour. It is what you breathe when this drag queen passes by, both during the day and at night. Every day we can see her curves in more events and her artistic career is continuously growing. Goddess, singer, cheeky… whatever it is, one thing is clear: Dita Dubois leaves no one indifferent.
For those who don’t know you: who is Dita Dubois?
Dita Dubois is a daring diva and a bit of a jerk who alternates between elegant and modern, always giving her a casual and lustful touch with her attitude.
I am a kind of Mae West: I can be dressed in a dazzling ball gown and with the most sophisticated of hairdos, and at the same time be talking about the different forms of erect members. I am the princess of the drag people.

This Wednesday you have an important appointment at Culture & Business Pride with drag queens and people from the internationally renowned LGTBIQ+ collective. How does it feel to be a benchmark on the islands to be part of the poster for this event?
The truth is that I don’t know if I’ll be considered a benchmark or not, because I’m everything that shouldn’t be done in drag, but that’s what Dita Dubois likes: she’s politically incorrect in everything. In fact, I still haven’t believed that I’m going to be in the same room with a drag queen as important as Aquaria, winner of the tenth season of the American show Rupaul’s Drag Race. When I found out, my first reaction was to think: “hey, I must be doing something right!”.
What can we see of Dita Dubois in this event?
Everything, everything and everything. Dita Dubois is FASHION, In uppercase. You will be able to see a lot of fashion in this Culture & Business Pride thanks to Marc Phillip, the stylist who wears my image for the event, and I couldn’t be happier.
What does it mean for you that the Canary Islands bet on events that support the collective?
That our Canary Islands include events like this on their agenda is wonderful. The reality is that there should be many more during the year; I miss in our capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, more LGTBIQ+ venues, and more support from some institutions and public administrations. We should follow the example of this Culture & Business Pride.
At what point is drag in the drag world?
I believe that the drag world, both in our archipelago and at a national level, is increasingly on the rise, thanks also to shows like Drag Race Spain. Many people enjoy this world or want to dedicate themselves to drag, a world that is open to all kinds of people, and in which you will always be welcome. What’s more: if you’re reading this and it’s your dream, I encourage you to fight for it, because everything can be achieved. Fourteen years ago I did not think I would be giving this interview, I assure you, and look at me: here I am.

And those fourteen years of experience guarantee you, and not only because of your drag image. We got to know your facet as a singer with Potasio together with your transformist sisters, and you recently released your single ‘Vamos nena’…
come on baby was born when Alex Mercurio asked me to perform at the Cook Music Fest, held recently in Puerto de la Cruz, in his show The Queens, a show where the collective was 100% protagonist. This was a very big opportunity to present something new and fresh, so I met with my team and decided to release this single with the work of my producer, Alex Santana.
After a month focused on the creative process, this wonderful single came out, which represents me 100%, and which achieves the icing on the cake with the image that Hugo Cebrián gave it on a visual level. I couldn’t have turned out better with the great team I have, and thanks to the sponsorship of Recuerdos Cafeteria, of course. It is available on all platforms.
And the public welcomed him with open arms. What does it mean for a drag queen from an island to continue to grow and for there to be an audience that wants to continue that growth?
It supposes a brutal recognition. Being an artist on an island is difficult because it has its limits. If you want to continue growing, you have to make the leap to the Peninsula to give more movement to your drag and your music, and thus achieve national recognition. The reality, sad though it may be, is that there are few opportunities for female drag performers on the islands.
I have been lucky after a lot of work to act in Madrid or Bilbao, and I look forward to come on baby continue working beyond our archipelago.
We already see that Dita has many edges…
I have a lot to offer and give to the public, wherever it is. I’ve been the one for a couple of years host in the scandal dinner show, at the Hotel GF Victoria, in the south of Tenerife, but you can always see me at night in Tenerife. In Puerto de la Cruz I perform at the El Círculo pub, and many of you have seen me in other clubs, bachelor parties or events: even at weddings, baptisms and communions!
I’m good at everything: I don’t just know how to make people laugh. I was recently at the Cook Music Fest performing, as I said before, but also presenting at the Tenerife GG at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Fairgrounds.
Another of Dita’s edges is her side as a businesswoman at night. I have a party called Vamos Nena Party, which I did recently at El Círculo, with the successful La Prohibida, being a success with everything sold out. We are already thinking about the second edition!
Where can we follow your steps?
I am very active, but don’t worry: only on social networks. There I tell part of my life and you can see where I perform and my future dates to enjoy a good night. How to find me? As always: Dita Dubois.
