The President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo Batlle, has expressed his recognition and support today, as well as that of the Canary Islands Government, for the social work carried out at the Hermano Pedro Adult Center, located in the popular neighborhood of Las Delicias, in Santa Cruz of Tenerife.
In a visit made together with the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the Minister of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families, Candelaria Delgado, the president underlined the commitment to “place people at the center of the public system” and work to improve the living conditions of the adult population.
“We wanted to start this new stage of work with a very significant visit of what is the commitment of this president and the entire Government of the Canary Islands” to place people at the center of the system, said Fernando Clavijo.
“It is an objective that we share with the Cabildo de Tenerife to work in a coordinated manner based on the commitment that the new president of the Tenerife Cabildo has put into practice when she has been in other positions and in other administrations”, explained the head of the Executive.
In this sense, Fernando Clavijo referred to the Hermano Pedro Adult Center as “a great example of all the good things we want to build in the Canary Islands with people who dedicate their time, their love and their effort to care for those who need it most”.
For this reason, the president added, “we wanted to be here because what is not known is not valued, appreciated, respected or admired, and we must focus on this marvelous work carried out by the workers and the workers, anonymously, to build a better Canary Islands, because every day they show what solidarity, delivery and dedication are”.
During his visit, Clavijo reiterated the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands to improve the human and material resources necessary to reinforce the social work carried out in centers such as the one in the Las Delicias neighborhood, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
“It is the beauty of a management that we want to value as a clear example of the society that we want to build in the Canary Islands,” he said. “A Canarian society that cares more and better for the people who have the most difficulties and that also dedicates their time with love, dedication and appreciation so that other people who are going through difficulties can be accompanied, respected and loved,” he added.
