The Association of Business and Professional Women BPW Canary Islands appoints the Adejera activist Victoria Ballesteros, coordinator of the Spanish-speaking Girls in Science Committee of the UN in the US, as president of the Young Committee. Ballesteros’s main task will be to represent young Canarian entrepreneurs, to encourage their leadership in the world through the exchange of experiences with more than half a million influential women that make up the International Federation of Business and Professional Women.
At the moment, Ballesteros studies Political Science with a specialization in Environment in the United States and has appeared before the UN on multiple occasions to advocate for environmental protection and advocacy for girls’ opportunities around the world. The proposal to lead the young businesswomen and professionals of the Archipelago arose from the meeting promoted by the delegate in the South of Tenerife of BPW Canarias, Mónica Radován and in which the president and vice president of this business organization, Antonia Varela Pérez and Rosalba Díaz, respectively, participated.
During the meeting, Antonia Varela transferred to Victoria Ballesteros the proposal of the Board of Directors of BPW Canarias of assume the important role not only in the Canary Islands, but also in Spain and even in Europe given its international projection. The objective is that from BPW Canarias and with Victoria Ballesteros at the helm, proposals are made to BPW Europe to send a message to the young businesswomen of the world, encouraging them to unite and create a support and visibility network. With enthusiasm and commitment, Ballesteros accepted the challenge and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity provided. “BPW Canarias is a really fascinating network,” she said.
