The fire has punished intensely this weekend to Canary Islands. The PalmGran Canaria and Tenerife have been the islands that have been affected by the fire. In the case of the beautiful islandthe consequences have been much greater, being affected more than 4,600 hectares and having to evict some 4,200 people during the day on Saturday.

In fact, the fire has not yet been controlled. The high temperatures prevailing during the last week in the Archipelago, but above all, the strong prevailing wind has been the fundamental cause for which the work of extinction has been made more difficult.

If from the beginning in Puntagorda the fire has been taking dramatic overtoneswhen its passage to the National Park of the Caldera de Taburientethe feeling has been even worse.

During Sunday, the large deployment of media that has traveled to La Palma, continues to work intensively to try to bring the fire under control.

For his part, the scare came in Gran Canaria. A fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon in El Sequero, in San Bartolome de Tirajanaburned nine hectares of bushes and pastures. The intense smoke from burning pitas generated great concern in the area, also due to the presence of houses in nearby areas and the fear that the wind could propagate it at great speed. The flames forced the City Council to cancel the Santiago Apóstol festivities in Tunte.

After several hours of intervention, a large part of the fire is in the cooling phase. The provisional balance of the Cabildo indicates that the flames burned nine hectares of land, affecting grass and scrub, according to the City Council. The tail of the fire was controlled, as was the right flank, while the left was 60% stabilized, and the head had been fully stabilized.

In Tenerife, still uncontrolled

The emergency device that works in the extinction of the forest fire that has been declared in the Tenerife municipality of Arafo has preemptively decided evacuation of the Las Hermosas area, in Candelaria, and Camino Las Tapias, in Arafo.

Furthermore, according to the Council of Tenerifewe have proceeded to evacuate the houses located at kilometer point three of the TF523, road that has been completely closed.

attempts during the week

During the week, in Gran Canaria and Tenerife there had already been some attempts that fortunately were controlled. Valsequillo and the Chira-Soria area were the places affected in Gracanaria, while in Tenerife, Los Realejos, in the north of the Island, was once again the focus of the flames.
