SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Finance, Budgets and Relations with the EU of the Government of the Canary Islands, Matilde Asián, has opted to “return” to the Canaries the fiscal effort they had to make in the last legislature.
“Citizens have had to make a fiscal effort in the stage prior to this legislature in the Canary Islands and we want to return that effort, we want Canarian families to have greater purchasing power and to have a better standard of living,” he said this Saturday in statements to the media after taking office.
As for a drop in the IGIC, Asián commented that it is still early to specify but that the line is that “you always have to pay taxes, yes. But you do not have to pay excess taxes, not that.”
“Once a certain level of tax revenue has been exceeded, the logical thing is that once the protection of the vulnerable, the financing of public services and all the needs that must be attended to are hidden, “the best that can be done is to return the effort to the citizens”.
The counselor recalled that she has just been appointed and that she has not yet had any contact with the public accounts. “As soon as I join on Monday and can have this contact, I promise to make some more concrete statement,” she observed.
