The San Benito Festivities leave more than 20 tons of waste in La Laguna

The City Council of La Laguna, through the Municipal Services area, deployed a special cleaning device for the celebration of the Baile de Magos and the Pilgrimage of San Benito Abad, between July 8 and 10, which ended with the collection of more than 20 tons of waste.

The Councilor for Municipal Services and the Environment, Ángel Chinea, highlighted in a note “the importance of this type of device to guarantee the well-being and good coexistence of citizens, once large events have taken place, such as the festivals of San Benito”.

Thus, he details that “once again, the ‘La Laguna + Limpia’ team has demonstrated the importance of the work they do daily to achieve a more sustainable municipality.”

The special cleaning tasks began after the celebration of the Baile de Magos, which took place last Saturday.

The troops began working at 4:00 a.m. to restore normalcy to the area where this act had taken place.

In total, the device for that day was in charge of 35 workers, who employed eleven mechanical personnel, among them, a chemical toilet cleaning vehicle, two open-bed trucks to remove toilets and containers, two cistern tanks and two pressure washer vans, among others.

For the San Benito Abad Pilgrimage, which took place last Sunday, they had the involvement of a total of 29 Urbaser employees who relied on a fleet of 13 vehicles, made up of two rear-loading collection trucks, two sweepers on a truck chassis, a self-propelled sweeper, three tankers or two pressure washer vans.

‘La Laguna + Limpia’ reactivated the special operation from 04:00 on Monday morning until noon to conclude the cleaning tasks for the nightly celebrations after the pilgrimage.
