SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife will invest 6.3 million euros in seven actions to improve the environment, of which 3.6 million will be allocated to work in the Teide National Park.

The Governing Council chaired by its owner, Rosa Dávila, gave the go-ahead this Wednesday to two collaboration agreements with the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands to carry out actions in the Park Nacional del Teide and for the restoration of ecosystems and green infrastructure and sustainable forest management on the island of Tenerife (Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan).

Similarly, the Governing Council approved the appointment of Alicia Concepción as island director of Strategic Projects, which is included in the area of ​​the president together with the island directorates of Equality and Diversity and Finance.

The actions in the Teide National Park will involve an investment of 3.7 million euros and will consist of the conservation and improvement of the summit broom through fencing, eradication of herbivores and planting, and the adaptation and improvement of the car parks of La Roulette and Centro Visitors Cañada Blanca.

Likewise, investment will be made in the restoration of the ‘Juníperos Cedrus ssp cedrus’ forest and the eradication of exotic flora.

On the other hand, 2.6 million euros will be invested for the restoration of the Site of Scientific Interest of La Caleta (Adeje), the recovery and protection of the vegetation on the sides of the roads through the installation of metal-wood barriers (TF-21 , TF-24 and TF-38) and for the supply of forest fire engines to put out forest fires.

Within the area of ​​Tourism, Foreign Action and Institutional Relations, the tender for the Tenerife Artificial Intelligence Tourism Master Plan was approved for an amount that amounts to 500,000 euros and is financed by the European Union-Next Generation-Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience.

This plan will become a tool to provide comprehensive support to the Sandbox Smart Destination with the aim of promoting innovation in the tourism sector in Tenerife.

In addition, an investment of 95,800 euros was approved for the improvement of rainfall in the area of ​​the center of Puerto de la Cruz, thanks to an agreement signed between the island corporation and the northern council.

The agreement contains a series of actions that include the superficial drainage of the initial section of Valois street, an intervention in the surroundings of Plaza del Charco, the expansion of diameters and the connection of Santo Domingo street with San Juan street and Agustín de Betancourt.
