The best difficult routes in Tenerife

Practice hiking in Tenerife it’s one of the best things to do At this time of year. Beautiful landscapes, adapted trails, an average temperature that accompanies… in short, the island has the perfect characteristics to enjoy walks.

The Island offers tours for everyone, from the simplest to the most complicated. And, precisely those are the ones we are focusing on now. Whether due to its length, unevenness or characteristics of the route, in this case we present some of the best difficult trails in Tenerife:

One of the most attractive trails in Tenerife -and also one of the most difficult- is the one that starts from Montaña Blanca to the peak of Teide. They are 8.3 kilometers of high difficulty, but in which the hiker will live a unique experience: crowning the highest peak of Spain.

The route begins on the track white mountain and go up a path that leads to the refuge. Along the way, the typical aridity of this area of ​​the Island will mark a path that requires tenacity and effort. He strong unevenness, which exceeds 60%, together with the high altitude, makes it very tiring for those who are not used to it. However, walking between volcanic flows makes it worth it.

If there are certain things that must be done at least once in your life, climbing the Teide peak is undoubtedly one of them.

Between Santiago del Teide and chew You can make a circular path that passes through the Hilda Cross Viewpoint. A journey of more than 13 kilometers which is suitable for the most sporty, since it is considered to be of great difficulty.

It is an ascending route that, although it is very demanding, offers some heart attack views, both from the Atlantic Ocean and, if we are lucky, from the island of La Gomera. But along the way you also get magnificent views of Teide.

The trail runs along the Bolico summit and reaches the town of Masca, one of the most beautiful on the island, where you can stop and have a drink before continuing your walk back to Santiago del Teide.

Garachico-Mountain of Chinyero

The route between garachico and Chinyero Mountain It is one of the most demanding on the Island, going from a height of just 46 meters to a maximum height of 1,521 meters in a 17.7-kilometre journey. The route begins in Garachico, ascending the Camino de El Lance to San Juan del Reparo, through volcanic flows that make up a landscape of great value. Without a doubt, it is one of the most beautiful routes in the north of Tenerife, in which the blue of the sea is left behind to enter the green mountain.

After passing through La Montañeta, the recreational area of ​​Arenas Negras and Montaña de Las Flores, a tour begins circular around the Chinyero Volcano, between volcanic picon lava flows, passing through old centenary pines.

If you are an experienced hiker, don’t let the demands of this trail hold you back, as you will miss out on a unique experience. This highly demanding route will allow you to connect with other trails:
