SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The candidate proposed by the regional Chamber to preside over the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo (CC), explained during the investiture debate the reasons why the Canary Islands Coalition has established red lines for a political formation such as VOX and has affirmed that although he respects his voters, not the recipes, nor his electoral program, nor what Santiago Abascal’s party wants for the Canary Islands.
In response to Nicolás Galván, spokesman for the VOX Group, Fernando Clavijo made it clear that a party that is incapable of admitting that sexist violence exists, that in its electoral program involves suppressing the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), that education, health or social services once again depend on Madrid or that he proposes to abolish the autonomous communities, “could not be further from the principles by which we are in politics”.
Clavijo affirmed that he will always defend that a person like Nicolás Galván can legitimately stand for election and be in the Chamber, but, according to what he said, “he cannot force us to share his government program or his solutions (…) We have I have fought for there to be democracy in this country and for there to be political parties that, taking that into their program, can have the electoral support they have had, but I cannot understand that the solution for the Canaries is to suppress the autonomous communities and the REF “.
The candidate admitted that instruments such as the AIEM may have to be reviewed because some of its aspects have not achieved the desired effect, but stressed that under no circumstances can an instrument that protects local industry, that generates employment and that has allowed that throughout the emergency and confinement decrees there were Canarian products on the supermarket shelves. For this reason, he refused to renounce “not one iota” to self-government and the ability of the Canarian people to be able to decide their future.
Fernando Clavijo also criticized that for VOX the concept of family is only father and mother, when for CC it is about something “much more diverse”, and reiterated that he will respect the four VOX deputies as legitimate representatives of the Canarian people and also He will sit down with them to explain and propose government action with transparency.
However, he did clarify that this does not mean that the VOX recipes are going to succeed and he also warned them that they will have to work, participate and try to make things in the Parliament of the Canary Islands “coherent, serious and rigorous”, as well as that the cordiality, dialogue, understanding and common sense that have prevailed in the Chamber continue for the next four years.
“We are going to argue, have differences and have intense debates, but at least on our part the desire is that they be treated politely, with respect and cordiality because the people of the Canary Islands deserve it. We cannot continue to be part of the problem. We have We must make an effort among all to be part of the solution and transfer outside of Parliament that we can discuss, dialogue and have intense differences, but that we are capable of maintaining cordiality and institutional respect,” Clavijo concluded.
