Candelaria began on Friday, with the so-called Noche del Muelle, with tapas and wines and a concert of Cuban music, the July festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen and the municipal patron saint Santa Ana.
More than 2,000 were the glasses that were sold to enjoy the wines from the wineries of El Rebusco Bodegas, Bodegas Ferrera, Bodega La Vera, Bodega Viña Gómez, Bodegas Tempus, Bodega El Silencio, Bodega Comarcal de Güímar, Bodega Hermanos Mesa and Bodega Mencey de Chasna, which were accompanied by tapas from the restaurants of Romén, Palmelita, La Eskina, Crunchy Takos and La Casona del Vino.
In an incomparable setting such as the Plaza de Los Pescadores, the candelarieros toasted the start of the festivities in honor of their patron saint, Santa Ana, and the Virgen del Carmen. A year in which previous editions were surpassed in terms of attendees and purchase of drinks, since 500 more drinks were purchased than on other occasions. Thus, before 8:00 p.m., many came to the Plaza de Los Pescadores to occupy some of the tables located on the seashore and with views of the Fisherman’s Wharf and enjoy wines and tapas.
All this seasoned with Cuban music offered by Troveros de Asieta and Claritzel, Virginia Guantanamera and Quimbao La Nuit.
Previously, the Juan Ravina Fishing Center hosted a recipe and pairing workshop that featured products from the Candelaria Local Production Market and wines from the Valle de Güímar Denomination of Origin.
The more than 50 events scheduled around the festivities of Santa Ana and El Carmen 2023 continued last night with the performance of Josefina Alemán, in the Plaza de Los Pescadores. Today it will be the turn of the traditional and fun Chorro del agua in the Fishing Dock and the Fiesta Latina La Gozadera in the Plaza de Pescadores.
