The town of Puerto de Santiago is preparing for the imminent celebration of its Festivities in Honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen 2023, which will be held from Friday the 7th to Sunday the 16th of July, with an extensive program of liturgical acts and leisure activities for All ages.
Thus, said celebration will begin this Friday, July 7, starting at 4:00 p.m., and will do so with the start of the Salvas in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, as well as the flowery Diana, which will be in charge of the Fanfare of Santiago del Teide, although from 6:30 p.m. The Virgen del Carmen Veteran Triangular Tournament will take place in memory of “Damián León Socas”. It won’t be until 8:00 p.m. when it takes place, in the Ntra. Sra. del Carmen Parish, the Ceremony-Proclamation to start the Festivities with the participation of the Municipal Band of Santiago del Teide; highlighting that, starting at 10:30 p.m., there will be a Grand Dance with the Maraury Orchestra.
On Saturday, July 8, for its part, at 6:00 p.m., the XXVI edition of the Swimming Crossing from Playa de La Arena to Puerto de Santiago will begin, highlighting that it will be from 9:30 p.m. when the Youth Concert of Santiago del Teide takes place.
As for Sunday, July 9, for its part, starting at 8:30 p.m., the election of the Great Lady of Puerto de Santiago will take place, which will have the stellar participation of the Jeita Company, whose show pays homage to our town and seafaring neighbors under the title “Memory and Tradition”. At the end, a great dance enlivened by Grupo Paraíso.
On Monday, July 10, starting at 8:00 p.m., the little ones will enjoy a Children’s Choreographic Festival to, later, give way, at 9:30 p.m., to the outdoor Children’s Summer Film session; highlighting that on Tuesday, July 11, a Family Summer Film session will take place starting at 9:30 p.m.
If we attend to Wednesday, July 12, the little ones will be able to enjoy a day of fun in a big way and they will do so from 11:00 a.m., when a Ludo-children’s water park and the foam party take place; although it will not be until 9:00 p.m. when the Grand Gala for the Election of the Children’s Queen of the festivities begins, with the participation of the Komba Producciones show. At the end, a great dance enlivened by the Arguayo Band Orchestra and Maikel Jiménez.
On Thursday 13, for its part, starting at 10:00 a.m., a special radio program will be developed in the Public Square of Puerto de Santiago, although starting at 9:00 p.m. you can enjoy the Grand Gala for the Election of the Queen of the Festivities Ntra. Sra. del Carmen 2023, which will feature performances by Volátikas, the Magic of Eros and the stellar performance of Jadel. At the end, Great Youth Night by local DJs and a stellar performance by Ray Castellano.
On Friday, July 14, starting at 11:00 a.m., the little ones will enjoy a ludo-playground in the Public Square of Puerto de Santiago, highlighting that, from 10:00 p.m., we can enjoy the concert musical by the artist Luis Cepeda, as well as the Gran Merengazo, which will feature the participation of Maquinaria Band, Orquesta Sabrosa and Orquesta Tropin.
As for Saturday, July 15, starting at 10:00 a.m., there will be a ringing of bells and the opening of the temple, which will remain open all day to visit the Virgen del Carmen. It will be from 12:00 p.m. when the Act of Imposition of the Scapular begins for all the faithful in the Parish of Nuestra Señora del Carmen; highlighting that, starting at 9:30 p.m., the image of Ntra. Sra. del Carmen will leave in procession, accompanied by civil and religious authorities, the Festival Commission, Queens and Courts of Honor, as well as the Municipal Band of Santiago del Teide.
Upon arrival at the dock, the Holy Mass officiated by D. Omar Martín Vargas and sung by the group “Al Sur” will take place. At the end, transfer of the image to the wall where the skies will light up again in honor of Our Lady of Carmen with a Great Fireworks Exhibition by the Toste Brothers of Los Realejos. Next, a festival by the Grupo La Calle and the Sensación Gomera orchestra.
On Sunday, July 16 -Day of Our Lady of Carmen-, starting at 11:00 a.m., the Holy Mass in Honor of Our Lady of Carmen will begin, which will be officiated by the parish priest D. Omar Martín Vargas and sung by the group Canná. Next, a procession along the usual route accompanied by the band of bugles, drums and bagpipes of Our Lady of Health. Upon arrival, musical offering and traditional boarding of the image of Our Lady of Carmen that will tour the neighboring towns of Los Gigantes, Alcalá, Fonsalía, Playa San Juan and Playa de la Arena.
During the course of it, a Great Seafood Paella will take place for the attendees with the performance of Maikel Jiménez. Upon arrival, welcome to the image and transfer to the temple. Finally, it will be from 9:30 p.m. when the End of Fiestas Festival by Los Cantadores takes place, highlighting that during the course of it the appointment of the Ntra. Sra. del Carmen 2024 Fiestas Commission will take place.
