A group of 25 young people embark for fifteen days in the free summer workshops organized by the Los Realejos City Council Youth Department until Friday 21. Dynamics of education in values, promotion of teamwork and field trips are the focus of this initiative with participants whose ages range from 12 to 17 years.
The activities began last Monday and the offer of the area directed by Josué Bacallado – the councilor visited and encouraged the boys in the inaugural session – consists of different workshops for personal and collective learning. They will last for three weeks from Monday to Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the Municipal Youth House as the main stage.
Group dynamics will be complemented by field trips. Young people will participate in outdoor actions in contact with nature. “Coexistence, leisure and education in values are once again the protagonist in the youth offer of this City Council”, underlines the mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo gonzalez.
The summer workshops of the Youth Department of Los Realejos always generate great expectations among the population to which they are addressed. For its multidisciplinary and free nature, for the reinforcement of coexistence and for the different initiatives that make up its varied program. This “is adapted each year to the concerns and requests that young participants in previous editions convey,” said Josué Bacallado.
The councilor stressed that “for yet another year the environmental perspective is being addressed again with a focus on work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and actions related to youth sexual affective education.”
But, in addition, novelties such as an scape room on the history of Los Realejos are integrated to, Bacallado explained, “get to know the past of our municipality up close in a playful way.” Or a drum workshop run by the Pieles Company “to meet elements of the ethnographic heritage of our islands through their music,” he explained. Without forgetting actions linked to organic farming, the consumption of zero kilometer products and healthy and healthy food.
The sessions of the week have been developed around psychology and magic. An expert showed the group of young people skills and resources that come into play in both disciplines and reinforce the ability to persuade.
Tomorrow, the boys will get to know the work of beekeeping up close, through an expert in bees, hives and honey, an activity that they will complement with a visit to the Cueva del Viento in the neighboring municipality of Icod de los Vinos.
In another of the days they will visit a multi-adventure park and another day the Garajonay National Park in La Gomera to name some of the outdoor activities.
