They investigate six people for the theft of 1,200 kilos of avocado in the north of Tenerife

Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to ROCK TEAMspecialized in the investigation of agricultural and livestock thefts, are investigating six people between the ages of 16 and 47, residents of the northern area of Tenerifeaccused of eleven crimes against property and socioeconomic order, and one crime of injury, for the theft of some 1,200 kilos of avocado in various farms.

Civil Guard personnel specialized in this type of crime began an investigation in March for thefts that occurred on farms, since many of these robberies always used the same modus operandi, access by climbing or forcing the perimeter fence, to Once inside the plot, steal avocados and put them in backpacks or bags.

Each of the defendants carried a small part of the total stolen for its subsequent distribution in bars, greengrocers or homes in the area at a price much lower than the market price.

Those investigated used to wear dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts so as not to be identified and accessed the farms at any time of the day or night –they normally reside near the plots they accessed, thus being able to control the hours of the farm owners. farms–.

On several occasions they were surprised by the owners, and on one occasion one of the defendants even struggled with the owner of the property to which they had accessed, injuring him.

After several months of investigation, the agents managed to gather sufficient evidence to identify the possible perpetrators of eleven of the robberies that occurred on farms located between the municipalities of Tacoronte and San Juan de la Rambla, a note from the Civil Guard collects.

The proceedings initiated have been forwarded to the judicial authority.
