SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the Popular Group in the Cabildo de Tenerife, Lope Afonso –who will be vice president of the new island government–, has guaranteed this Monday that there will be no motion of censure and that he will respect the agreement signed with CC “for four years” in order to to give “stability” to the institution.
In statements to journalists, he pointed out that “being transparent and coherent” is a “value” that his party defends and for this reason, since the resignation of Pedro Martín from the presidency (PSOE) was announced, they wanted to “make it clear” before the Tenerife that his position was going to be “serious and consistent”.
Afonso has stressed that they have signed an agreement with a vocation for stability for four years in order not to have “dependencies on external factors” and thus “avoid a weak government” with determination.
He thanked “the cordiality and normality” with which the plenary session took place and that “it may portend a mandate in line with what the vast majority of Tenerife wants, an institution that lives up to their expectations, not only basically but also in the forms, that it is noted that good politics can be carried out”.
Thus, he has shown his conviction that “there can be an orderly, calm transition and putting the general interest first.”
Regarding the attitude of the PSOE in this mandate, he has indicated that he trusts in an “initial collaboration” and then a “logical inspection task” but he understands that this spirit that has been exhibited in the Insular Palace must be demonstrated “among all” to be able to of “raising an image of Tenerife that is the flag of that way of doing politics that many people continue to claim”.
As for VOX, which, like the PSOE, has abstained, has valued its intervention and that it has allowed the image of majority support for the presidency “to come out without tarnishing” for which it has once again insisted on “good manners, cordiality and respect” that should mark this mandate.
