The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has requested a sentence of 12 and a half years in prison for a man, a British national, for killing another in an abandoned premises. The victim used this place as a home, which was located in some old tennis courts in the Ten Bel tourist complex, in Costa del Silencioin the municipality of Arona.
The indictment, collected by Europa Press, states that the events occurred during the early hours of February 25, 2020 when the man, for unknown reasons and with the intention of ending the life of the victim, a citizen of French origin and 61 years old, violently assaulted him.
As a result of the attack, he suffered a complete fracture of two ribs, an incomplete fracture of another two, and it compressed his neck until he died.
Subsequently, the defendant wrapped the body in a sheet and moved it to the old changing rooms that were next to the place where they lived. There he left him covered with clothes and closing the door with a cord to avoid being discovered before leaving the island.
The Prosecutor considers that the facts are constitutive of a crime of homicide. In addition, it requests compensation of 300,000 euros for the heirs of the deceased and requests the provisional dismissal of the case for the other investigated as there is no evidence to prove his presence at the scene. The UK authorities detained both upon arrival in the country.
The trial, with a Jury Court, starts next Monday at 09:30 in the sixth section of the Provincial Court.
