A migrant who was traveling in a canoe along with 64 other people and who was intercepted early this Sunday in waters near Tenerife has died and four others are in serious or moderate condition.
In this sense, the irregular vessel reached the island coast by its own means (without touching land) and was escorted by an Alpheratz salvamar from Salvamento Marítimo and a Civil Guard patrol boat to the Los Cristianos Pier, where the sanitary device was waiting. usual in these cases.
As reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 112, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Red Cross assisted the occupants of the canoe and confirmed the death of one of them.
In addition, four other migrants had to be evacuated in serious condition –two of them– or moderate –two others– to a hospital on the island.
Similarly, six other occupants of the boat were transferred to a hospital for presenting different pathologies of a mild nature.
