The cost of the new municipal Corporation exceeds two million euros. The new government team, made up of 14 councilors (nine from the CC and 5 from the PP), adds salaries close to 900,000 euros, while the 27 temporary staff positions add up to another million more. Added to this is the salary of the opposition spokesmen and two mayors, also from the opposition with partial dedication. These amounts were approved yesterday in plenary session with which the new mandate began, a file that went ahead thanks to the votes of the groups of the Government team.

In this way, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, will earn 77,611 euros gross per year, an amount that in the case of the first deputy mayor, Carlos Tarife, will amount to 65,930.57 euros. Both amounts were already budgeted in the accounts for this 2023, although Tarife will charge somewhat less than his partner, Guillermo Díaz Guerra, who as a career civil servant, added other supplements. Each of the remaining 11 councilors will have a gross annual salary of 62,634 euros. This yields a total figure of 895,151.01 euros. Everyone will be entitled to two double payments, in June and in November. The amount exceeds by 57,000 euros what is included in the budget for 2023.

As for temporary staff, up to 27 positions, as many as the capital city councilors have, the figures range from 57,499.26 euros gross per year for the mayor’s chief of staff, to 30,833 euros for the secretaries of political groups. The total sum of these amounts amounts to 1,010,285, 64 euros, about 10,000 euros more than what was budgeted for this 2023 in the same positions.

To these amounts are added, for the first time, those that will be received by the spokespersons of the opposition groups, who, thanks to a change in the Plenary Regulations, will receive the same salary as a councilor from the Government group. Thus the PSOE spokesman, a function that has fallen to Andrés Martín, who will be exclusively dedicated, will earn 62,634 gross euros per year. The same amount that the Vox spokesman, Alejandro Gómez, will enter. The PSOE will also add two part-time councilors, 50% of the working day. One of them will be Matilde Zambudio, and the other will probably be Alana Chinea, since Elena Mateo, the first option, has given up this possibility.

Altogether, the new municipal Corporation will have an annual cost of approximately 2,020,000 euros. To this will be added the allowances for attendance at Plenary Sessions and Commissions, which add up to 248.82 euros, while for attending the Governing Board, Plenary Commissions, Board of Spokespersons and Governing Councils, the figure is 221.17 euros each. a.

The PSOE abstained on the point referring to remuneration, mainly, as explained by the former mayor Patricia Hernández, due to the lack of time to study the file that it received late on Thursday. In the case of Vox, its councilors voted against.
