SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesperson for the Popular Parliamentary Group, Luz Reverón, expressed her concern on Thursday after learning that the ‘Tito Berni’ plot “splashes more and more” members of the Government of the Canary Islands and criticized the “silence” of President Torres “who continues without clarify the extent of the involvement of its Executive in the so-called Mediator case”.
In this sense, Reverón recalls that in addition to the former socialist deputy José Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, and the former director of Livestock of the Government of the Canary Islands, Taishet Fuentes, the judge has also implicated the deputy minister of the Primary Sector and a head of service from that same department, Álvaro de la Bárcena and Margarita González, investigated for the alleged commission of a crime of revealing secrets and prevarication.
“These new accusations show that we are facing a case of alleged corruption and bites that directly affect members of the PSOE,” said the popular spokesperson in a note, who recalled that “since the scandal broke, Torres defended that the Ministry and its leaders they had acted responsibly, refusing to see a reality that the judicial investigation and the facts that are known are bringing to light”.
For this reason, Luz Reverón warns that, in the next session, the Popular Party will use all the mechanisms at its disposal “to clarify this plot and demand the political responsibilities that President Torres has wanted to cover by all means.”
In his opinion, “the case of ‘Tito Berni’ is not an isolated case in the mismanagement of the Government presided over by the PSOE”, and recalls other cases also investigated by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office such as the ‘Masks case’ or the diversion of funds destined for centers for unaccompanied minors who “have cast a shadow of suspicion over the way Torres manages.”
