The Repsol Guide has presented 300 new ‘soletes’ in its latest editiona rating given to restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors and beach bars throughout Spain. These establishments can be found in the new application launched by the guide. This year’s selection includes beach bars, hidden terraces and picnic areas surrounded by nature, many of which are backed by roadside restaurants.
The Repsol Guide has already awarded eight deliveries of the ‘soletes’, and in total, there are more than 3,000 establishments throughout Spain. Andalusia tops the list in this edition with 62 ‘soletes’, followed by the Valencian Community (31), Catalonia (30), Castilla y León (24), Galicia (22), the Community of Madrid (20), the Basque Country (19 ), Canary Islands (18) and Balearic Islands (17).
The new establishments in the Canary Islands
The new soletes that the guide has included in the Archipelago are (with the corresponding review):
-Atelier Cocktail Bar (San Bartolome de Tirajana): “Have a good cocktail contemplating the city and the sea at night on the roof of the ‘Bohemia’ hotel. But, if you want to ensure a good place on summer nights, we recommend booking.”
-Ethiopian (The Gran Canarian palms): “The first Ethiopian restaurant in the Canary Islands” has a large terrace, well set. ‘Sambussas’, ‘dhoro wot’ (chicken stew)… you’re spoiled for choice.”

-Headquarters (Honda Beach, San Bartolome): “The owner was a tourist guide and now she serves good wines and snacks, for example, in one of the barrels at the entrance of her premises: onion tart, beautiful potatoes, cheeses…”.
-Er Cuchitrí by José Luis (Reef): “For when the tourist area of the capital overwhelms: in the neighborhood of La Vega we find surprising homemade dishes for their quality and a comfortable interior patio”.
-The Moon (Reef): “Very close to the Reducto beach, there is a good place where you can feel the atmosphere of the popular La Destila neighborhood while eating home cooking with Lanzarote products.”

-Mangrove (Santa Cruz of Tenerife): “Karmine Parisi is a great chef who officiates in this unique place at the entrance to the city (facing the sea) and is enchanting with fruit dishes and rice dishes. Surprising and suggestive.”
-El Aljibe (Guamasa, San Cristobal de La Laguna): “Cheerful tavern with a refined point that does not prevent a glimpse of Canarian tradition and products. Extensive menu, Tenerife wines and an interior patio with natural shade”.
-Gastro Lercaro (the orotava): “Renovated palace with interior patio where you can taste tasty cuisine (such as rice dishes) and a very complete wine cellar. Spectacular views of the Orotavense valley.”
-Habatonka Sweet Factory (La Orotava): “Laura Suárez and Isidro Vera run a kind of ‘sweet restaurant’ with a picturesque patio and with the ‘tonka bean’ as the plot line in their pastry creations”.
-Antonio Aguiar’s Bistro (Cross port): “Antonio Aguiar is a veteran chef from Tenerife who proposes succulent dishes from the traditional recipe book (mackerel, octopus, chickpeas) in a restaurant with a terrace in the center of the city.”
-David Rodríguez pastry shop (Puerto de la Cruz): “An old house in the city of Porto houses David Rodríguez’s pastry shop. Around the main door there are tables with umbrellas where you can have breakfast on free mornings.”
-Il Gelato di Mercato (Arona): “You have to stop at the renowned ‘Il Gelato dil Mercato’, antagonistic to ice cream parlors with artificial proposals. Sunflower seeds, prickly pear sorbet… a variety of flavors from nature.”
-Kiosk La Zamora (hot spring): “Perfect for having a beer or some wine in a good pairing. Charming frank cuisine in a very special location, between Roque Las Galeras and Punta del Hombre”.
