SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A canoe with 84 migrants on board, all of sub-Saharan origin, arrived Wednesday by its own means at the La Estaca dock, on the island of El Hierro, coming from the African continent, sources from Maritime Rescue have reported to Europa Press.
It was the Port Authority who gave the notice after sighting the vessel very close to the coast at around 11:15 a.m., for which reason a Red Cross launch and, by land, Civil Guard agents were immediately mobilized.
The cayuco was able to enter the pier by its own means, where all its occupants, 64 men, 1 woman and 19 minors, were assisted by personnel from the SUC and the Red Cross, transferring eight of them to the hospital due to moderate dehydration, as and as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2.
