Pedro Martín is sworn in as president this Tuesday but will be replaced by Rosa Dávila on July 12

Change of cycle and mandate in the Cabildo de Tenerife. The constituent plenary session this Tuesday (6:00 p.m., Salón Noble) opens a new stage with the threshold set at 2027. Four years in which the island power will return in principle to the CC-PP axis, evicted in 2019, and in the opposition since then, for a pact between the PSOE and the disappeared citizens. With the external support of another party without representation, like the rest of the left beyond those of the fist and the rose, in the new insular Corporation: Sí Podemos Canary Islands. Peter Martin will be proclaimed president by heading the most voted list, the socialist –About 5,000 votes difference in favor with the nationalist Rosa Davila–, as established in the Regulation. Then the same mechanism will be repeated as the one that promoted Martín to the presidency against Carlos Alonso (CC), the motion of censure, but with him as a victim this time. He has 11 advisors for the 18 that add up to his rivals. The remaining two are from Vox that enters the institution for the first time. Only eleven of the previous 31 remain.

Socialist Party. Two island directors of weight in the previous term, such as Aarón Afonso (Support for the President) and Laura Castro (Tourism), make the leap to counselor. Together with them on the PSOE bench, five trusted men and women of Pedro Martín who had management responsibility: Berta Pérez, Marián Franquet, Javier Rodríguez Medina -these last two were spokespersons-, Nauzet Gugliottta and Javier Parrilla. Manuel Martínez, Minister of Water in 2015-2019) joins. The adejera Carmen Rodríguez, with extensive experience in the public sector, and the portuense Mónica Ceballos, former regional general director, make their debut.

Canarian Coalition. The nationalists opt for the change of faces. To begin with, that of the leader himself, now a leader. Rosa Dávila, replacing Carlos Alonso. He only keeps two advisers from the previous team. On the one hand, Efraín Medina, who sounds very strong to carry Employment in the next organization chart with the doctor Juan Acosta in Education for Prevention. On the other, Blanca Pérez, equal in Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security and Emergencies. Rosa Dávila herself would reserve the Treasury and Equality would remain for Serafín Mesa, general secretary of Jóvenes Nacionalistas. José Miguel Ruano, based on his experience, would be responsible for the Presidency, Administration and Territorial Planning. Two departments remain for CC in that already distributed structure. Mobility, which will be the responsibility of Dámaso Arteaga (Roads) together with Eulalia García, and Research, Innovation and Development reserved except for surprise to another former Santa Cruz councilor: Juanjo Martínez.

People’s Party. The Popular Party is the one that, in proportion, maintains the most directors, three out of eight. It will be part of the government pact. Everything points to his number 1, Lope Afonso, for Tourism, while Águeda Fumero would be in Social Action and Manuel Fernandez would have the responsibility in Industry and Commerce with the primary sector for Valentín gonzalez and Commerce of Krysten Martín from Santiago. Sonia Hernández, former vice president of Fepeco, would go to Municipal Cooperation and José Carlos Acha to Culture and Sports (Yolanda Moliné). There are only small fringes left to complete the organization chart.

Vox. and vox? Well, that’s the big unknown. Little is known. Neither of them Ana Salazar and Naím Yánez, nor of their policies in the Cabildo. Everything is ready in the Noble Hall of the Insular Palace for the development of a solemn act that “is never the same although the ceremony is always the same”, according to experts. The inauguration will be followed by two other fundamental moments in the future of the Tenerife Council. The registration of the motion of censure, probably tomorrow, and the plenary session in which it will be debated, on July 12.
