SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The resigned president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has convened two plenary sessions for next Monday in which he will announce his resignation from office – made public this Tuesday at the inauguration – and later the new Government will be elected island that will come out of the pact signed between CC and PP through a vote on the heads of the list.
In statements to journalists, he commented that this agreement is “legitimate” and with his resignation the “unfortunate spectacle” that occurred four years ago when CC “refused to respect the law” and the motion of no confidence was carried out was avoided. .
“I don’t want to repeat that show,” he added, stressing that his intention is to make himself available to the new island government so that it can start working as soon as possible, in such a way that it will not be necessary to carry out the motion of censure because there is no longer anyone against who to present it “It makes no sense to wait twelve or thirteen days,” he stressed.
Martín has commented that he is going to the opposition “with the satisfaction” of representing the list with the most votes and has predicted that it will be “four entertaining years” -leaving the door open for any motion of no confidence to be presented during the mandate– .
He has pointed out that he is already working on the call for the General Elections, where he is running as a candidate for the Senate, but also on finishing many issues of the Cabildo so as “not to leave time bombs” for the future Government, such as the resolution of subsidies or the anti-fire device.
Martín has confessed that he communicated his decision to the directors of his group, but not to the rest of the spokespersons, and he understands that it is “difficult” for them not to understand that he has resigned when CC wanted to alter the law, “load a plenary session” and avoid the motion of censorship four years ago. “We are not all the same,” he stressed.
However, he has shown his respect for the governance agreement between CC and PP but he has regretted that the PP did not want to meet to find possible meeting points and work on a joint program. “I did not understand that there was no such option and that it is the CC who sets the path for the PP”, she underlined.
