SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The heads of the CC and PP list in the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila and Lope Afonso, respectively, have guaranteed this Tuesday that they will maintain the signed government pact despite the fact that the motion of censure is no longer necessary after the resignation of Pedro Martín as president.
Thus, next Monday, in the plenary vote to form the new island government, the nationalist Rosa Dávila will be sworn in as the first president in the corporation’s history.
In statements to journalists, Dávila has insisted that both parties are going to form a “strong and stable” government and what has been done, with the resignation of Martín, is to facilitate and speed up the terms for the political transition. “It doesn’t change the course for either of us,” he said.
Afonso has acknowledged that Martín’s resignation took them “by surprise” but he appreciates the resignation because the arrival of the new government is anticipated and with the same objectives of providing stability to the corporation.
“Our agreement is based on reciprocal trust, loyalty and commitment, our vision of the island will be the same for four years, there are no reasons to be changing either majorities or political approach. I predict that this is going to be a Government for a long time,” he explained.
