Puerto Santiago (Santiago del Teide), El Médano, Los Abrigos (Granadilla de Abona) and Tabaiba Baja (El Rosario) will be the epicenters today of the Night of San Juan in Tenerife. Granadilla de Abona celebrates the magical night of San Juan with two institutional bonfires at two points along the municipality’s coastline. On this special day, in which the summer solstice is celebrated, it is expected that at dusk, after 9:00 p.m., the two bonfires will be lit on the central beach of El Médano and on the large beach of Los Abrigos. “The rest of the fire pits are totally prohibited in the bathing areas of the municipality,” warns the Consistory of Granada. Starting at 8:00 p.m., the activities are scheduled to begin with parades along the promenade, from Playa Chica to the central square of El Médano, led by the troupes and batucadas Kuliquitacas del Sur and Guajeiros, who will also perform in Los Abrigos. And at 8:30 p.m. the music by DJ Fabrizio is expected to begin, continuing until midnight with the Escuela de Calor group.

The coastal town of Tabaiba Baja, in the municipality of El Rosario, will live the traditional festivities in honor of San Juan Bautista today Friday and tomorrow Saturday. In addition to the traditional sardine and the popular floating bonfire, this year there are performances by Yaiza Cruz, DJ Goldyazz and the Reve group. In addition, the image of San Juan Bautista will return to procession before lighting the bonfire. The celebrations will begin at 7:00 p.m. today, the eve of San Juan, with the great sardine for residents and visitors and a performance by the soloist Yaiza Cruz, which will be followed, starting at 8:00 p.m., by the DJ Goldyazz session.

The neuralgic point of the festival will be the surroundings of the maritime avenue and the Tabaiba pond, where around 9:30 p.m. a short religious service will take place in the small chapel of the cave of San Juan. Around 11:00 p.m. the procession will begin and the traditional lighting of the floating bonfire by divers from the El Pejín Diving Club.

To end the night there will be a fireworks show that this year will once again have a low noise impact to affect people with hearing hypersensitivity and pets from the nearest urbanizations as little as possible. The evening will conclude with a festival entertained by the Reve group.

The Santiago del Teide City Council has organized various recreational activities to celebrate the Night of San Juan today starting at 10:00 p.m. on the beach of Puerto de Santiago. Attendees will be able to enjoy different musical performances by DJs, which will continue throughout the event. It will not be until 11:00 p.m. when the traditional burning of the bonfire begins, to later give way (00:00 a.m.) to the fireworks show that will end the celebration of the most magical night of the year.
