A boat with 47 people arrives by its own means to Tenerife

A canoe with 47 people has reached the port of Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, escorted by the Maritime Rescue vessel Salvamar Alpheratz.

Maritime Rescue sources have reported that the Civil Guard gave the notice that a possible vessel had been detected from the SIVE surveillance system and the Salvamar Alpheratz located it about 12 kilometers south of Punta Rasca.

Maritime Rescue did not intervene and limited itself to escorting the boat to the port, where the occupants of the cayuco were treated by the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service.

The Red Cross has reported that thirteen of its volunteers collaborated in the care of the 47 people who came ashore.
