SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A canoe with 38 migrants of sub-Saharan origin has arrived on Friday by its own means at the Los Cristianos pier, in Tenerife, sources from Maritime Rescue and the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) have informed Europa Press 1-1- 2.
It was the Canary Islands Regional Coordination Center (CCRC) of the Civil Guard that reported to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in Tenerife that they had detected a cayuco sailing about 5 miles south of Punta Rasca, for which reason they immediately mobilized to the salvamar ‘Alpheratz’.
The Salvage unit was in charge of escorting the cayuco, which was sailing under its own power, as it entered the port of Los Cristianos. In the boat there were 31 adults and 7 minors, all male.
Once on land, they were assisted by members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) and the Red Cross. All were in good health, so no transfers were made to health centers, as indicated by Cecoes 1-1-2.
