SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cueva del Viento in Icod de los Vinos turns 15, showing the public the magic of the underground world and the bowels of the ‘Pico Viejo’ volcano through an interpreted visit to a section of approximately 200 meters in the Sobrado Superior Gallery.
The Cabildo de Tenerife informs in a note that only last year the tube received the visit of more than 24,000 people.
In total, the Cueva del Viento has more than 18.5 kilometers of travel that are 27,000 years old and despite the location of this cave, devoid of light or artificial sounds, it has become “essential” for visitors who arrive to Tenerife, details the corporation.
Over the course of two and a half hours, the interpreter guides take the visiting public to the moment the volcanic tube was formed, even with the active eruption, to end up observing the evolution of one of the most spectacular geomorphological structures in the Canary Islands.
During these 15 years, Museos de Tenerife have improved this experience by studying possible new routes, in a clear commitment to guarantee their conservation and generate greater awareness of protection among visitors.
