SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The acting president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, the acting first vice president and innovation advisor, Enrique Arriaga, and the director of the HiperDino Canary Islands Esports League, Antonio Cabrera, presented this Thursday the second edition of ‘Tenerife GG ‘, which will take place from July 11 to 16 at the Fairgrounds and will feature 40 independent video game studios.
At a press conference, Martín highlighted that “Tenerife once again has a very powerful proposal for foreign promotion through this event, which transcends borders and moves an important fan base worldwide”.
Along these lines, he indicated that it is “an opportunity to enjoy a space for leisure and culture, and to forge projects, initiatives and proposals that contribute to positioning the island as a point of reference in the video game industry.” .
For his part, Enrique Arriaga pointed out that “talking about Tenerife GG is more than talking about a meeting of the technology sector, since it is one of the most important events for thousands of fans both inside and outside the island , but also for professionals”.
In addition, he stressed that “it will have activities, shows, prizes and presentations that will bring together young people and adults with the same guiding element, gaming”.
The vice president insisted that this sector is not “merely recreational” and added that “this event will serve as a showcase for young people to demonstrate their talent before recognized experts and important technology companies in order to turn their hobbies into a professional opportunity”.
According to Antonio Cabrera, “from HDG and the HiperDino Canarian Esports League we are tremendously satisfied, we have a lot of experience, and that is that since 2006 our team has been responsible for 12 editions of the largest technology festival in the Canary Islands, before under other names, now Tenerife GG “.
Along these lines, he added that “organizing and executing a project like this entails enormous work by the organization and many collaborating entities, but the reality that is presented is very gratifying, it is no longer specifically a festival for fans of technology or video games and gaming is much more, it is in the culture of society at all levels, leisure, education, industry, art or professional development”.
He also said that “Tenerife GG is a festival that brings together the entire Canarian, national and international society, in a celebration of the culture that is lived, has an extremely positive social acceptance and is something that is reflected both in the attendees –more than 15,500 in the last edition– as well as the fact that the Cabildo de Tenerife and HiperDino joined forces to make it a reality, as well as an endless number of entities, professionals, volunteers and sponsors to whom we are very grateful”.
