SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Institute of Social and Socio-sanitary Care (IASS), has put out to tender the works of the new CAMP La Cuesta center for the care of people with intellectual disabilities for a total amount of 8,451,927 euros and a term of execution of 18 months.
The acting president, Pedro Martín, explains in a note that this is a highly demanded project, which responds to the needs and suggestions raised by the families of the users.
“Many fathers and mothers who are in charge of people with intellectual disabilities have expressed their concern about what will happen when they are no longer there and, in this sense, the new CAMP La Cuesta center allows for the expansion of residential places, offering essential support to families who seek to guarantee the care and quality of life of their family member in the future,” he said.
Pedro Martín adds that the deadline for submitting offers will remain open until July 19 and recalls that before putting the project out to tender, an update of the work prices was approved to be able to undertake with quality guarantees the new services and common spaces that will be launched, which will contribute to improving the quality of life of users.
For her part, the acting third vice president and counselor for Social Action, Marián Franquet, points out that this project is part of the socio-sanitary management model that is developed by the island corporation, “focused on people and the need to give them comprehensive care, adjusted to their interests and demands”.
In this line, it details that its execution contemplates a total of 50 residential places, of which 30 are newly created, in addition to 20 day care places.
In addition, some services will be incorporated, such as a therapeutic cup, as well as new spaces, such as the kitchen, laundry and outdoor areas, which had been suppressed in the first project, approved in 2016, to lower costs.
Regarding the bidding budget, the project contemplates a price increase of 68% compared to the 5 million euros assigned to the first project, approved in 2016.
In addition, the criteria included in the project’s bidding conditions include measures to avoid assigning the works to an abnormally low offer that makes it impossible to carry out the works for the contracted price, as already happened with the first project. awarded in 2018, which due to this reason could not be executed.
