The Municipal Cooperation and Housing area of the Council of Tenerife puts the project on public display improvement of the sewage treatment network in the coastal zone of the northern municipality of San Juan de la Rambla. This Tuesday, June 20, 2023, the Island Government Council, which continues with its work in office after 28M, has approved the contracting file for the development of the workswhose execution has been budgeted in a total of 1.5 million euros. The Tenerife Council will finance 90% of the total cost, around 1,351,700 euros, and the Ramblero City Council will take care of the remaining 10%, around 150,000 euros.
This performance was included in the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2018-2021although in the best of cases they could begin at the end of this year 2023 and conclude throughout 2024. The counselor of the Municipal Cooperation and Housing area in office, Zebenzui Chinea (PSOE)highlights that “the works will solve the problem of sanitation infrastructure in the municipal coastal zone, which will result in an increase in the quality of the provision of this public service to the population”, and It will also prevent wastewater discharges into the sea and subsoil.
The insular person in charge of the area that works jointly with the town councils indicated that “for the development of the works it has been planned to cause the least possible inconvenience to the public, minimizing traffic interruptions and reducing the execution times in the action units that make them more annoying guarantee the safety of vehicle and pedestrian traffic and mitigate the inconveniences to the residents of the area“. In order to minimize the inconvenience to residents and visitors, the Cabildo de Tenerife will carry out a detailed study of each of the sections that comprise the execution of the project and will offer solutions adapted to the population.

Chinea also announced that the project has been enriched with an important technological improvement: a channel for the remote control of the drives. The works will consist of the installation of a tube parallel to the impulsions of the future pumping stations of San Juan de la Rambla, located in Las Monjas, Las Aguas and Pícaro and Puntón. The counselor clarifies that “this improvement does not alter the system, but will complement and improve the sanitation network, to optimize the provision of this service and that the population can make use of it in modern and quality conditions.”
San Juan de la Rambla It is a municipality with a population of around 4,864 inhabitants, divided between the nuclei of the upper area and those of the lower zone, where about 1,500 people live. The historic center is located on the coast, with more than 900 inhabitants; Las Aguas, where some 400 people reside, or La Rambla, also known as El Rosario, whose population is around 130 residents.
