SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The short film ‘Distopia’, made by the 6th grade group of the CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo, from Lanzarote, has won the tenth edition of the Educational Film Festival, ‘Cinedfest’, in the Infant and Primary category.

“We have been watching the gala from school for many years and this time it was our turn, through this short film we want to vindicate diversity in all areas of life,” said one of the winning students upon receiving the award to end her speech. with the unanimous cry of “long live the difference” by all the students on stage.

The ceremony, which brought together more than 500 people, including students and teachers at the Tenerife Multicines in La Laguna, was presented by the journalist Miguel Ángel Rodríguez and included the Island Director of Education and Youth of the Cabildo, Isabel Bello, at the delivery of prizes.

Second place went to ‘The forbidden zone’, by the 2nd grade students of CEIP Las Mercedes, in La Laguna, which was released through a video by the director of the DISA Foundation, Sara Mateos Artiles, projected on the screens of the Tenerife Multicines.

On the other hand, the jury awarded the trophy for the best Early Childhood and Primary education center to CEIP El Roque, in Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma), which garnered three other distinctions such as the award for best comedy, for ‘El misterio del museum’, and those with the best photography and best sound, by ‘La Lista’.

Meanwhile, the award for best horror short went to CEIP Agache (Güímar), for ‘Forever with mom’. The award was given by the director of the Multicines Tenerife, Fran Marichal López.

The award for the best Primary school director was shared by Azael Meza Benítez, from CEIP Gesta 25 de Julio (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), for ‘El Patio’, and Ivan Suárez Rodríguez, from CEIP Agustín Hernández Díaz (Moya).

Lucas Expósito Placeres, Antonio Adrián Afonso León and Jesús Eduardo Sanz Correa, from CEIP San Bernardo (Los Silos), received the award for best script for ‘Mi gran t’ and, in the category of interpretation, Berenice Leia Álvarez Delgado was distinguished as best actress, for her role in ‘Once upon a time…’, from CEIP Príncipe de Asturias (Telde), and Fabián Melián Yusef as best actor, for ‘Distopia’, from CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo (Arrecife).

The rest of the honor roll was made up of CEO Guajara (Fasnia), with the short ‘Old Tennis’, which has been awarded the DISA Foundation trophy, which distinguishes the works that best reflect the values ​​of effort, respect and solidarity, and the distribution award, for which reason it will travel to a multitude of festivals for a year, and the CEIP Giner de Los Ríos (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), which won the Social Values ​​Award from the La Caixa Foundation, for ‘The Big Draw’.

The Primary prize list was completed with the award for best documentary, which went to ‘The rural school: the heartbeat of a town’, from the Infant and Primary group of the CER of Santa Brígida-San Mateo, in which reality is shown daily life and the history of the rural schools collective, and the non-Spanish speaking one, for ‘Queen Elizabeth’s Last Goodbye’, from CEIP Camino de la Villa (La Laguna).

Emilio Ramal Soriano, film and video curator at Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (TEA), presented the award to the Primary School short most valued by the Canary public for ‘The invisible treasure’ at CEIP La Verdellada (La Laguna).

POPULAR VOTE AWARD FOR A LUGO CENTER

Likewise, the director Josep Vilageliu presented the trophy to the winning short film of the popular vote of the Peninsula Section, which corresponded to ‘Desperta’, from CEIP O Vicedo (Lugo), to a representation of students from the school who traveled from Galician lands to be present at the gala.

As for the Children’s category, the highest award was received by the 4-year-old Children’s student body, from CEIP Parque La Reina (Arona), for their musical proposal with an ecological message entitled ‘Arráyate un millo’, while the Children’s group from 3 years of the CEIP Fernando III El Santo (La Laguna) won second prize for ‘Without footprint’.

The organization details in a note that the Secondary, Baccalaureate, FP-CEPA-EOI-EASD Final Gala will be held on the same stage, where this year’s ‘Cinedfest Grand Prize’ will be unveiled, among others.

The event will be broadcast live through the Cinedfest YouTube Channel, starting at 10:00 a.m.

The tenth edition of ‘Cinedfest’ has stood out for its great participation, with a total of 373 educational centers registered throughout Spain, which have presented 560 short films.

With regard to the archipelago as a whole, 231 educational centers have attended this year, presenting a total of 414 short films among all the categories in competition and 606 teachers from centers throughout the Canary Islands have been involved in this project that is committed to Cinema in the classroom as an educational tool.
