The Tenerife municipality of Tacoronte has baptized one of its streets with the name of Calimocho-Kalimotxo in honor of the famous drink, common especially in northern Spain, made up of red wine and Coca Cola. Precisely, the street that will bear this name connects the factory of the renowned soft drink brand with the Regional Winery of the municipality.
This has been decided by the City Council after an inhabitant slipped a humorous comment that ended up becoming a municipal file resolved days ago. The neighbor in question commented to other people who were with him, guiding his gaze to one or the other center, the following: “Listen, you have noticed that on the left is Coca Cola and on the right is the Bodega Comarcal. We are in the middle of something very important, if we mix it we have calimocho”.
The joke ended with the laughter of the companions. That phrase did not remain in the place, which at that time had another name, but the group of friends commented on the occurrence of the other with other neighbors, causing the joke to have its way.
The anecdote reached the Bodega Comarcal as well as the Coca Cola factory, where they willingly accepted the mayor’s idea of labeling that street with the name of Calle Calimocho.
The new plaque has already been placed in place. The Town Hall explains that the reading of the plaque by the residents who passed through the area at the inauguration ceremony was “a complicit smile, which turned into laughter when there was a broader explanation for those who did not know the origin of the signage”. . It is the first road in Spain with the name of this famous drink.
