The general secretary of the Canary Islands Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, has denied at a press conference that his party has reached agreements to agree with VOX in the municipalities of Teguise (Lanzarote) and Granadilla (Tenerife).
Clavijo has assured that they will vote for themselves and that there are no signed agreements. “The election of the mayor is carried out by the councilors,” he recalled.
The politician has clarified that there are no agreements with VOX in said municipalities, although he warns that there is a generic agreement with the PP in many institutions in the Canary Islands. “We remain consistent with our position of not establishing agreements with extremes and populism,” he reiterated.
In this sense, he stressed that “the polls have spoken” and they are presented to those two municipal plenary sessions without any agreement, with the intention that their candidates, Olivia Duque (Teguise) and José Domingo Regalado (Granadilla), assume the position of mayors . However, it is recognized that the direction of the VOX vote in both city councils can be decisive.
