SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government Council of the Canary Islands held this Thursday has approved the granting of a direct grant of 250,000 euros for humanitarian reasons to the non-profit organization Social Innovation Cluster for Change (SIC4C), in order to pay for the expenses of the Nut4health project, consisting of trying to reduce deaths from maternal and child malnutrition in Mauritania.
The file has been investigated by the General Directorate of Foreign Relations, following the request submitted by SIC4C.
The initiative consists of the screening and early prevention of malnutrition in Africa, especially in boys and girls.
The General Directorate considers that the social and humanitarian requirements of the project are met, therefore direct subsidy is possible without the need for competitive competition, since the association does not obtain any benefit or economic revenue.
The 250,000 euros are assigned to the Emergency and Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Government of the Canary Islands, collects a note from the Executive.
Being a figure greater than 150,000 euros, as required by Law 38/2003, on subsidies, the Governing Council had to approve this direct aid.
