SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has finalized the contracting file for the project that will improve the surroundings of Las Gaviotas beach and its connection to Playa Chica, in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The drafting of this project contemplates a budget of 184,016 euros that will be fully financed by the island corporation.
The acting island president, Pedro Martín, explains in a note that the execution of this project will entail an approximate budget of two million euros with which it is intended to condition the coastal edge of the beach, improve access and the connection with Playa Chica , adapt the parking area and provide this space with the necessary services for its use in safe and healthy conditions.
Pedro Martín explains that “it is a work in high demand by the public, on a beach of black volcanic sand, with a notable influx throughout the year that historically has been very important for chicharreros and chicharreras”.
This action is part of the MEDI-FDCAN ‘Tenerife and the Sea’ programme, which seeks to improve the island’s coastline, promoting natural and coastal values and facilitating access to and use of the coast.
In previous years, an intervention was carried out to improve the stability of the slopes of the cliff in which Las Gaviotas beach is inserted, with the aim of improving the safety of use of the beach and minimizing the risk of landslides.
