The general secretary of the Canarian PSOE and acting president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, said this Wednesday that VOX’s support for a pact between CC and PP so that the nationalists maintain the mayoralty of Teguise (Lanzarote) is the “first great farce and lie” of the mandate.
In statements to journalists during the presentation of the candidates for the General Elections, he has reproached the general secretary of CC, Fernando Clavijo, who in the electoral campaign “said forcefully” that his party would not accept the support of VOX to form governments and that ” it can happen” in the municipality of Conejero, otherwise the mayor would be Marcos Bergaz (PSOE), who received the most votes in the elections.
Along these lines, he has criticized Clavijo because “he said one thing in the campaign” and now, “because of power, he does the opposite”, a fact that “cannot be forgiven by the citizenry.”
For this reason, he has shown his desire that he “reconsider” so that there are no governments in the institutions that move forward “with the support of the extreme right”, a party that is “against” the Statute of Autonomy, the REF or that bets for centralizing services that “luckily” are in the hands of the Government of the Canary Islands and with infrastructures on different islands.
Likewise, he has warned that VOX “launders” the mistreatment of women and “is not capable of condemning those who are convicted”, as has happened in Valencia, where Carlos Flores will be the head of the Congress list once it was not possible to form an autonomous pact with the PP.
However, Torres has insisted that “the agreement in Teguise not be forged and materialized” because it is an “absolute deception” to the voters since during the campaign “one thing was affirmed” and then “the opposite” is done.
He has also regretted that regional governments between the PP and VOX are being closed, in the case of Valencia, where the first political force (PSOE) is also “relegated”, as has happened in the Canary Islands, and that “exhibits” his president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, since he has signed an agreement with a politician convicted of gender violence. “Coherence does not exist, it is reaching power in any way,” he added.
