The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) pays tribute this summer, in its seventeenth edition, to the comic book superheroes who have made the leap to the screen through iconic productions that have captivated the general public for decades.
The Marvel and DC universes, their heroes and villains, will star in the programs planned for the two great symphony concerts that the Auditorio de Tenerife will host on July 14 and 15, by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Tenerife Film Choir and the Polyphonic Choir of the University of La Laguna.
They will be two original and unique shows in which numerous pieces will be performed for the first time worldwide, with the world premiere in concert of the soundtracks of ‘Watchmen’ and ‘Deadpool 2’, composed by Tyler Bates, who will visit the Festival; ‘The Incredible Hulk’, by Joe Harnell; ‘Werewolf by Night’ (Michael Giacchino), ‘X-Men’ (Shuky Levi), ‘The Killing Joke’ (Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion and Kristopher Carter) and the animated series ‘What if?’ (Laura Karpmann).
Tickets are already on sale at the Auditorio de Tenerife box office. On Friday, July 14, at 8:00 p.m., the concert ‘Excelsior: The Legacy of Stan Lee’ will take place, dedicated to the great soundtracks of the legendary Marvel comic book publisher made into movies and television. It is worth noting the world premiere of the music from the film ‘Werewolf by Night’, composed by Michael Giacchino, also director of the film, expressly prepared for this concert. Danny Elfman’s iconic score for Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-man’ film and its sequel; ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘X-Men’, ‘Black Panther’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ or ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, among others, will also delight the audience.
The concert will be given by guest conductor Salvador Vázquez and will feature the participation of Tyler Bates, a regular collaborator of James Gunn and Zack Snyder. Lola and Sami Bates will also participate as solo voices, as well as drummer Greg Ellis, whose performances have been part of more than 200 film, television and video game soundtracks, including ‘300’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy ‘ or ‘Assassin’s Creed’, who returns to FIMUCITÉ with his extraordinary staging.
The concert ‘Gods and Detectives’, dedicated to DC Comics, will put the finishing touch to this promising edition of FIMUCITÉ on Saturday, July 15, starting at 7:30 p.m., under the direction of maestro Diego Navarro, composer and conductor specialized in film music and founder of FIMUCITÉ. The program covers the soundtracks that have accompanied superheroes like Superman and Batman, villains like the Joker, and other characters from the noir genre, like Dick Tracy or the Raven, on the big screen. It is worth noting in this concert the interpretation of the score of ‘The Batman’, by Michael Giacchino, and the suite from the legendary film ‘300’, by Tyler Bates. Other titles such as ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Superman’ or ‘The Rocketeer’ will also sound. In addition, the world premiere of the score for ‘The Killing Joke’ will take place, with the presence of its author Lolita Ritmanis, who returns to the Festival accompanied by Michael McCuistion and Kristopher Carter, with whom she has written the music for various animated films Marvel and DC, such as ‘Batman Beyond’, under the Dynamic Music Partners label.
Tyler Bates, Lola and Sami Bates and Greg Ellis will once again take the stage, as well as the invited soloists from the Canary Islands, Fran León and Esther Ovejero.
