The City Council of La Laguna, through the Department of Works and Infrastructures, undertakes this week the resurfacing and improvement of Morales and Pedro Zerolo streets, two of the main streets of the town. Just yesterday, work began on Morales Street, a road widely used as a vehicle exit valve from the city center to Trinidad Avenue. The works will last for five days from Avenida Pablo Iglesias to Avenida Trinidad.
Likewise, today the resurfacing works of Pedro Zerolo street begin, from Trinidad Avenue to Leonardo Torriani Avenue, along 450 meters. It is also a street that supports a high rate of vehicles on a daily basis, as it serves as an evacuation of traffic from Avenida Trinidad towards La Cuesta and towards the Quadrilateral area, and because it is also the main access route to the central building of the University and the Santa María and San Fernando residence halls.
During the works, which have an execution period of seven days, the direction of traffic in María del Cristo Osuna will be changed, which will become ascending, from Leonardo Torriani to Doctor Antonio González at the level of the Javier Fernández Quesada Student Park.
As long as the work lasts, traffic will be reordered in the area, so the Works and Infrastructures area requests special attention to road signs. The entrances and alterations to the garages in the area, both during the day and at night, will be communicated by the concessionaire of the works.
Both actions are included in the project to reinforce the pavement in the roads of the metropolitan area and mountains of the municipality, awarded for 1,422,917 euros, to improve road safety in some thirty streets in different towns and neighborhoods during the first semester of 2023.
Both the acting mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the acting councilor for Works, Josimar Hernández, recalled that “these actions have as their main objective the increase in road safety, attending to those roads that are in worse condition , favoring fluid circulation and pedestrian traffic, since many of these actions also intervene in the renewal of the sidewalk and accessibility”.
