Tenerife Espacio de las Artes offers a series of activities this summer around the exhibition ‘Óscar Domínguez. The conquest of the world through images’, aimed at different types of public that will be able to enjoy this wide sample of the work of the Tenerife painter, delving into the iconographic keys of his work and learning about and experimenting with some of his best-known techniques, such as the decalcomania
The approach to the surrealist movement and its main assumptions, as well as the relationship of Domínguez’s work with that of other prominent artists will also be the main issues of some of the proposed activities.
Spend the afternoon with friends experimenting with painting as the Tenerife painter did, come as a family to take a tour that delves into the importance of play for surrealist artists, or choose to take a guided visit through a selection of works from the exhibition that revolve around three different themes are some of the options that TEA proposes to spend ‘A summer with Óscar’.
Within ‘A summer with Óscar’ are the summer Mini Afternoons for boys and girls from 8 to 12 years old, which will be held on July and August afternoons from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will have a decalcomania workshop on Tuesdays, the Wednesday the surrealist self-portrait workshop Who is who? and on Thursdays the workshop Surrealizing landscapes.
The MiniTardes for adolescents, intended for adolescents aged 13 and over, are entitled Art as resistance. Zine workshop and will take place every Friday in July and August, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition to this, families with children aged 6 and over will be able to participate on Saturdays in July and August, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the surrealist games workshop. All these activities are free but with limited places. To attend these workshops it is necessary to register in advance by calling 611 527 675, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
They also offer, from Tuesday to Friday at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., free guided tours for adults. In June and July the visits are entitled The Canary Landscape in the Work of Óscar Domínguez; in August and September, Óscar Domínguez: lights and shadows of his life and artistic career; and in October, Everyone except Óscar. To attend any of these visits it is not necessary to register in advance, you just have to show up at the TEA ticket office five minutes before the start of the selected activity.
The Mano a Mano program, aimed at people with physical, mental and/or sensory disabilities and people with serious mental illness, offered from June 27 to October 29, from Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., two Free activities: Decalcomania and automatisms workshop and Who is who? In addition, the MiniTEA Space workshop is also open throughout the summer at TEA, that special place designed and prepared so that children from the age of six can carry out plastic creation activities in their leisure time. The entrance to this space, in which minors work under the supervision of their parents or companions, is free.
The MiniTEA space hosts until September 10 the exhibition and activities program entitled Little Animals! The exhibition is made up of fifteen works from the TEA Collection and offers the visitor a journey through the animal kingdom, approached from different points of view. The origin of the domestication of animals, pets, the image of the animal in children’s imagination and the consequences of animal exploitation for the ecosystem are some of the questions that this exhibition wants to put on the table.
