This action has been long demanded by the residents of the Salamanca neighborhood, as the acting mayor pointed out, “this is one of the commitments made with the residents of this road, since they are temporary security works and containment of about 100 linear meters of slope, as well as the adaptation of the road affected by the landslides.
It must be borne in mind that, according to the project report that, after today’s approval, will now go out to tender, contemplates the necessary works for the installation of protection elements against landslides on the slope of the mountain side of a section of approximately 100 meters from Juan Pérez Delgado “Nijota” street, between plots 19 and 76.
In said document, it is specified that the action will include the protection of the slopes and the conditioning of the section of street affected by the landslides, something that has caused damage to the road, both due to falling stones from the slope of the street from the slope of the plots.
In addition, the project also provides for the demolition of two buildings that are in a state of ruin on plots 19 and 13 A due to the risk of collapse on the existing road. After its demolition, the rubble will be removed.
These buildings, identified as tool rooms, have also been a cause for concern on the part of the residents, who, through the La Arboleda Association, have approached the Town Hall on several occasions, since they had become on many occasions a place irregular settlement.
In 2020, this street was also the subject of another security action, in this case through the Centro-Ifara district office, which was in charge of providing 40 meters with sidewalks, thus responding to a recurring demand from the residents and social groups in the area.
The work was financed through Participatory Budgets, and involved an investment of 4,350 euros, being the third most voted proposal in the municipality. The action included the elimination of physical barriers and obstacles, as well as the continuity of the pedestrian, which based on mobility criteria, becomes a safe section and facilitates accessibility.
