Alba María Dorta Álvarez, 17 years old and a resident of San Isidro, and José Luis Gorrín Acosta, of the same age and resident of Los Blanquitos, were elected queen and master of the Granadilla de Abona 2023 Major Festivals, during a gala held in Los Hinojeros Park.
The first maid of honor was Sara Hernández Gopar, from the town of Granadilla; the second was Soraya Lasir Dion, from San Isidro while the third was Itizya Peñalba García, from the urban area. The show organized by the Department of Culture and Festivals featured performances by Kuliquitacas del Sur, Violetas and the singer Lucrecia.
In addition, the jury chose Lyra Santos Sánchez as children’s queen of the Major Festivals and Yarey Corujo Martínez and Agoney Cartaya Toledo as children’s mister. The other princesses are Iraya González Rodríguez, Alexia Coello Oramas, Alexia Viera González and Emma Esther Fuentes González, from Granadilla; Chloe Santos Heffernan, from El Médano; Yaira García Frías, from Chimiche; Alexia Regalado Regalado, from Los Llanos, and Angelina Bustamante Kempson and Cloe Rodríguez Pérez, from San Isidro. On stage it was possible to enjoy the children’s show La casa del bosque.
Granadilla de Abona will live its pilgrimage today in honor of San Antonio de Padua, starting at 1:00 p.m., after the mass sung by the Parranda Chasnera. There will be 15 floats, 30 cars and 15 folkloric groups that will tour the main streets of the town.
