This weekend the municipality of Santiago del Teide lives one of the traditions that has the greatest popular roots, such as the Corpus Christiwhich has the collaboration of groups, associations and municipal parishes.
This year they will use about 500 kilos of marble, dyes and other varieties of components with which the groups will make different images and tapestries in the squares and streets.
The elaboration of carpets in the municipality on the occasion of Corpus Christi has become over the years a meeting and coexistence point and although it has an obvious religious component, this activity is a tradition that has an important cultural and ethnographic, recalls the Santiago del Teide Town Hall.
The places where the carpets will be made are the squares of Santiago del Teide and Tamaimo, outside the Santa Gema Center and in the vicinity of the Church of Puerto de Santiago.
