SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Island Executive and the Island Political Council (CPI) of the Canary Islands Coalition of Tenerife have unanimously agreed this Saturday to propose Cristina Valido as a candidate for the Congress of Deputies for the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Jonathan Domínguez and Gladys de León as candidates to the Senate, facing the elections that will be held on July 23, while the substitutes will be Lot García and Diana Mora.
The proposals to the Congress of Deputies and the Senate must be ratified by the National Political Council of the Canary Islands Coalition, which will be the body that will configure the final lists for these elections on July 23. This council will be held next week.
After the agreement reached by the CPI, Cristina Valido stressed that in these elections the Canary Islands “are at stake and the Canaries have to speak very loudly and tell the next tenant of the Moncloa, whoever they are, that in order to live in the Moncloa are going to have to listen to us and negotiate with the Canary Islands. We have a lot to say and we have a lot of things to resolve.”
In this sense, Valido stressed that on July 23, the Canary Islands “have a lot to say, they have specific problems to solve and the men and women of this land have to defend the interests of the Canary Islands, because that is defending the interests of their children. and their grandchildren.”
Thus, Valido asked for the support of the voters and non-voters of the Canarian Coalition because “by supporting this nationalist party of Canarian obedience – the only one that is -, the Canaries will be heard and respected.” “We have many things to achieve and to defend because every time the Spanish government changes we have to remind them of where we are, what we are like and the problems we have,” he remarked.
The insular secretary of CC de Tenerife, Francisco Linares, stressed that the party has “full confidence” in Cristina Valido “because of the experience, commitment and knowledge she has to bring the problems of Tenerife and the Canary Islands to Madrid and so that we can continue having a voice of its own.
For her part, the deputy-elect Ana Oramas highlighted that Cristina Valido is a “magnificent” candidate because she has the experience of having been a counselor in the Cabildo de Tenerife and in the Government of the Canary Islands and because she is a person with social empathy who, in the For the last three years, he has been in charge of preparing his amendments and speeches related to the Housing Law, the Minimum Vital Income or non-contributory pensions.
Ana Oramas also warned that this is “a campaign where the Canary Islands, not the Canary Islands Coalition, has a lot at stake.” She also said that CC has the option, with the results of the regional elections, to have a group in the Senate and aspires, with the latest electoral results, to obtain two deputies, together with a third for the province of Las Palmas. “With these results, the Canary Islands Coalition could be deciding the next Government of Spain, because it does not choose between left and right, but whether the Canary Islands will continue to be in national politics,” she insisted.
